There are of course things we CAN’T CONTROL in birth, but lets start thinking about the fact that most of these things we CAN INFLUENCE! YOU can be the change. The difference. The biggest influence on your birth experience. Once you know your rights, your preferences and all that you CAN INFLUENCE, only then will you realise the true power you hold for your birth experience. Let’s start taking our POWER BACK!

“I have a beautiful 6. 5 month old baby, but he’s only meant to be 4months today. Iv followed you from I first found out I was pregnant on the recommendation of a friend. I went into spontaneous labour at 29+2 weeks. Would have been terrifying had I realised I was actually in labour at the beginning🙈 I had planned a calm, relaxing water birth initially this was not to be. I went in for a check up and mentioned that I was cramping and sore from the night before and had some spotting, I was put on monitors for over an hour at which point I was told nothing was showing even though my pain was increasing and getting more frequent. On the advice of a lovely midwife I stood up for myself (confidence I had from following you and a few other insta pages) I said I wanted the swab to check if I was either in labour or close to it. Well thank god I did. Otherwise the doctor (male) was for sending me home with paracetemol. A different female doctor came back and informed me the swab was positive She asked to do an internal ultrasound to see what was happening and I agreed, I wanted the full picture. She found I was fully eface and I gave consent for her to examine me and was told I was 3cm dilated. My mum had been with me the whole time thank god or I mightve lost my cool… I’m a FTM and did not expect to be having my baby at 29 weeks! I rang my partner and told him to get to hospital ASAP as he was 40mins away woth work and this baby was coming. I was then rushed up go labour ward alone bdcause I wanted my partner not my mum and covid rules stated only 1 birth partner. Well soon as I was up my waters exploded, I was hooked up go ivs for magnesium to help baby and steroids. He never got either because I remained calm. I knew my body was built for this. I remember kico and ffff. My partner arrived for me to start pushing, reminding me ffff, breathe this baby down, and within 4minutes my baby was born. He spent 9 long weeks in the neonatal unit before he got home and that was Traumatic, but I don’t think of my birth as being traumatic because I felt in control even though it wasn’t what I had planned or really what anyone would want if I’m honest. The fear of not knowing why my baby came early or if anything would be wrong or was it my fault. But all that aside. The actual birth I am so happy with looking back because I knew what to do. I knew I could do it and I stayed calm the whole labour and birth and I have you in part to thank for that😁❤️ ***He never got either the magnesium or steroids because he came earthside so quickly***”

No matter who you are, what your past life or current life entails it’s safe to know that YOU can influence with the power of the mind and when you do, magical things really do start to happen!

Much love
