“Hello, I hope you’re well! I read so many positive birth stories through your insta before delivering my daughter last week and they really kept me going! Thank you so much! I thought I would message and share my positive story ❤️ I found you mid way through my pregnancy and boy I am glad I did! Despite being a first time mummy, I was determined not to listen to people’s horror stories about their births but approach it with a positive and relaxed attitude. My pregnancy was not without its complications as a scan at 21 weeks revealed concerns about our baby’s bowel and lungs. After many tests and some waiting, one consultant revealed everything should be fine and we could breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately another consultant signed us up to months of growth scans! Despite each growth scan being positive, I couldn’t help but feel the consultants and some of the midwives were constantly being negative about my birth and what options I would have. I always wanted to give birth in water, in a birth centre. But, nearing my due date I was constantly told to manage my expectations and due to various excuses and staffing- I was told I wouldn’t be allowed a water birth and I’d be induced at 40 weeks. 40 weeks came and I refused my induction, pushing it till 41 weeks and doing everything in my power to bring on labour naturally. Our little one knew exactly what they were doing and I started in labour the night before my induction. Then, in a weird twist of fate my elected hospital told me they were on divert and I could not come in despite being in labour. I tried to remain calm and made my way to a hospital we had never been to before. When I arrived, I was greeted by positivity and news I was already 4cm dilated. I waited for a bed on the labour ward and my waters broke naturally later that afternoon. After being taken to my room, the midwife read my notes and asked why I was here and not having the birth centre, water birth I had requested. After a quick discussion with the consultant there and a monitor of baby I was taken down to the centre at that hospital. My labour all together was 38 hours. It was a long slog, but I breathed all the way through it, laboured in the birth pool under twinkly lights with my essential oils and birth playlist on. The midwives gave me massages and remained so calm throughout. I birthed my beautiful 8lb 2oz baby girl using just breathing, gas and air and some pethadine for a rest at one point. My husband reminded me to breathe throughout and keep my FFFF! I suffered from a minor tear but overall my birth was calm, as I planned and intervention free! At the end I screamed, I’ve bloody done it!!! Sorry it’s so long but I just wanted to thank you and share!”

No matter who you are, what your past life or current life entails it’s safe to know that YOU can influence with the power of the mind and when you do, magical things really do start to happen!

Much love
